THIS WEEK FOR THE HAWKEYES
The University of Iowa women’s tennis team faces the University of Illinois-Chicago and DePaul University this weekend in Chicago, Illinois. Iowa will take on UIC at 10 a.m. (CT) Saturday and DePaul at 1 p.m. Sunday.

“We have to be ready to go this weekend against two very good opponents. Chicago is a great place to compete. It’s in the hotbed of our recruiting base and it has a strong alumni presence. We need to put together a pair of strong performances.”

FACING UIC AND #53 DEPAUL
The Hawkeyes have faced the University of Illinois-Chicago only once in program history. Iowa defeated UIC, 6-1, in 2012. Iowa has faced DePaul 15 times, with a record of 11-4.

REIMCHEN ON TOP
Sophomore Anastasia Reimchen has played at Iowa’s No. 1 singles position in 10 of 11 matches.Reimchen has a singles record of 6-4 overall. The only other Hawkeye to play at No. 1 was freshman Kristen Thoms during the second match against Missouri State. Reimchen is 5-3 at the No. 1 singles spot and has only lost one singles match at home.

DOUBLES POINT DOMINATION
The Hawkeyes have won every doubles point at home this season. After eight home matches in 2016, Iowa has led, 1-0, entering singles play. The Hawkeyes are also undefeated at home, 8-0.

DOUGLAS ITA RANKING
Sophomore Zoe Douglas is ranked No. 106 in the latest ITA tennis singles poll. Douglas has been ranked since the second week in February and holds a 6-1 record this season in singles. She is the only Hawkeye ranked nationaly.

FACING RANKED TEAMS
Iowa will face another ranked team this season on Sunday afternoon at DePaul. The Blue Demons are ranked 53rd in the nation in the latest ITA women’s tennis rankings. DePaul will be the third ranked team Iowa has faced this season, the first three were Oregon, Oklahoma and Nebraska on the road. The Hawkeyes defeated seven ranked opponents in 2010, Coach Dougherty’s first season with the Hawkeyes, finishing the season 17-7. Iowa last win against a ranked opponent was in 2014, when the Hawkeyes defeated No. 42 University of Illinois, 4-3.

COMING UP FOR THE HAWKEYES
Following weekend matchups against UIC and DePaul, the Hawkeyes continue on the road for another Big Ten matchup in Bloomington, Indiana. Iowa is 0-1 in Big Ten play this season after falling to No. 69 Nebraska, 5-2, in Lincoln on March 2.
