IOWA CITY, Iowa —The University of Iowa field hockey team has received an at-large bid into the NCAA Championships, the NCAA selection committee announced Sunday evening. The Hawkeyes (14-6; 4-4) will play Wake Forest (11-9; 2-4) from the ACC at 1:30 p.m. (CT) on Friday, Nov. 9 in Durham, North Carolina.
Iowa is in Duke’s bracket, who is the No. 4 overall seed, along with Boston and Miami (Ohio) who will play each other in a play-in game.
The NCAA Tournament bid marks Iowa’s 23rd trip to the NCAA Tournament and the first under head coach Lisa Cellucci. It is Iowa’s first appearance in the national tournament since 2012.
Iowa faced Wake Forest in its season opener, winning 2-1 with goals from Katie Birch and Maddy Murphy. Wake Forest fell to No. 1 North Carolina, 7-2, in the ACC Conference Championship on Sunday.
The Hawkeyes are coming off a runner-up finish at the Big Ten Tournament.
