Doocy Named 2nd-Team All-Midwest Region

IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa junior pitcher Allison Doocy has been named a second-team All-Midwest Region honoree, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced Thursday. The regional award is the second of Doocy’s career.

The Ankeny, Iowa, native was the Hawkeyes’ premier pitcher in 2019, tossing 187 innings with 195 strikeouts. Doocy tallied 14 games with seven or more strikeouts, including 14 against Bucknell to open the season on Feb. 8. She was named the Big Ten Pitcher of the Week on March 11 after throwing two complete games with 19 strikeouts at the Saluki Invitational.

The award is Iowa’s 80th regional honor in program history. Doocy earned second-team All-Midwest honors in 2018.

The NFCA Division I All-America teams will be announced Wednesday, May 29 at 4 p.m. (CT).
