IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa field hockey team has received an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament, the NCAA selection committee announced Sunday evening. The Hawkeyes (16-4; 7-1) will play Duke (13-7; 1-5) from the ACC conference on Friday, Nov. 15 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

This marks Iowa’s 24th trip to the NCAA Tournament and the second consecutive under head coach Lisa Cellucci. Iowa is in top-seeded North Carolina’s bracket, along with Duke and the winner of Stanford versus Miami-Ohio.

Earlier this season, the Hawkeyes fell to No. 2 Duke, 2-1, in overtime on Sept. 15. The two teams have never faced each other in tournament play.

The Hawkeyes are coming off a Big Ten Tournament Championship and a Big Ten Regular Season Title.
