Iowa Earns NFHCA Academic Team Award

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Iowa field hockey team was one of 79 teams nationally to earn the National Field Hockey Coaches Association 2021 Division I National Academic Team Award, it was announced Monday by the NFHCA.

The award recognizes programs that earned a team grade-point average of 3.0 or higher during the fall semester of the current academic year.

The Hawkeyes have piled in the academic accolades following the fall semester. Iowa had a school-record 17 Academic All-Big Ten selections and 24 NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad honorees. Iowa also had eight student-athletes earn NFHCA Scholars of Distinction honors.

The program finished the 2021 season with a 17-3 overall record with an outright Big Ten regular season title. Iowa advanced to the Elite Eight for the 20th time in program history where they fell 1-0 to eventual national champion Northwestern.
