Carter Named Big Ten Player of the Week

IOWA CITY, Iowa – University of Iowa outfielder Nia Carter has been named Big Ten Player of the Week, it was announced Monday. This is the second Player of the Week honor for Carter in her career, and her first since her freshman year.

The Rancho Cucamonga, California native hit .667 in the three-game series at Michigan State. She tallied eight hits, seven RBIs, and scored three runs, leading Iowa to a series sweep. In Friday’s game she went 4-for-5 with a double, and had a career-high five RBIs. She recorded at least two hits in every game in the series.

Carter currently leads the conference in batting average (.468) and hits (65). Her 65 hits have her ranked second in the nation.

The Hawkeyes travel to Drake on Wednesday at 5 p.m. (CT) for an in-state match up.
