ROCKFORD, IL – The University of Iowa women’s rowing team performed well at the Head of the Rock, in Rockford, IL.
In the Varsity 8+, the Iowa A boat, comprised of Lori Rehel, Michelle Trannel, Lydia McGee, Megan Manijak, Nikki Stob, Emily Wagstrom, Katie Moe, Emily Vail, and Kathleen Lehman, took third place with a time of 16:35, with the Iowa B boat coming in second with a time of 16:39.
In the Varsity 4+, the Iowa A boat, comprised of Vanessa Sheehan, Leslie Stach, Sophie Nielsen, Laura Balogh, and Steph Beeler finished 15th amongst a strong field of 28 boats.
The varsity pairs had a sound performance, with all four of Iowa’s boats finishing in the top ten. Iowa A, consisting of Megan Manijak and Nikki Stob, claimed second place with a time of 19:41. The Iowa C pair finished fourth with a time of 19:50. The Iowa B and Iowa D boats finished seventh and tenth, respectively, with times of 20:15 and 20:27.
In the N8+, Iowa A finished seventh out of 35 with a time of 19:24.
The Hawkeyes will take to the water again on October 18th and 19th at the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston, MA.
