March 30, 2004

IOWA CITY, IA – Hawkeye diver Timo Klami earned all-American status last weekend after his performances in the three-meter and one-meter diving events at the NCAA Championships. This marks the first time that former Big Ten champion Klami has received this award.

The junior from Nodeland, Norway, recorded a 15th place finish on Thursday, March 25, in the one-meter event. Klami posted a prelim score of 283.05, which wasn’t good enough to qualify for the finals, but earned him honorable mention all-America accolades in the event. On the second day of competition Klami qualified for his first appearance in the finals of the championships. His prelim score of 564.85 was fifth best in the three-meter. He followed up his prelim performance with an impressive score of 585.8, which placed him seventh at the NCAA Championships. His seventh place finish earned him all-America laurels in the event.
