Hawkeyes Win One Against Minnesota

IOWA CITY, IA – The University of Iowa women’s rowing team won the Varsity 4+ race against Minnesota Sunday morning at Lake Macbride. Competition was scheduled for Saturday, April 3, but was postponed until Sunday morning due to strong winds.

In the Varsity Four race, the Hawkeyes took first place with a time of 7:53.25 to defeat two Minnesota boats, which finished in second and third place with times of 8:01.71 and 8:19.19. Iowa’s Varsity Eight was edged by Minnesota by less than two seconds, finishing in a time of 7:00.3 to Minnesota’s 6:58.6. The Second Varsity Eight also took second, finishing with a time of 7:18.53 to Minnesota’s time of 7:07.24.

In the Novice Eight, Iowa posted a time of 7:49.37, finishing second to Minnesota’s time of 7:11.18. The Second Novice Eight also finished second with a time of 8:25.26.

Iowa will take to the water again next Saturday as they travel to Washington D.C. to compete in the George Washington Invitational.
