University of Iowa pitcher Lisa Birocci was named Big Ten Pitcher of the Week Tuesday after leading Iowa to a 5-0 record last week.
Birocci picked up all five victories for Iowa, throwing two complete game shutouts and getting three wins in relief. The junior didn’t allow a run in 24 innings of work and struck out 32.
The Des Moines native was named the 2003 Big Ten Pitcher of the Year and was a third team NFCA All-American. This season, she is 15-8 with a 0.92 ERA and 206 strikeouts.
Iowa is 27-15 overall and 8-0 in the Big Ten.
