EAST LANSING, MI – The Iowa at Michigan State softball game Friday afternoon was postponed after three plus innings due to heavy rains. The game was halted in the top of the fourth inning with the score tied 2-2. The Hawkeyes and Spartans will attempt to finish this game at 11 a.m. (CDT) before the schedule series finale weather permitting; central Michigan is expecting four to six inches of snow overnight.
No. 22 Iowa scored first in the first inning on a Summer Downs one-out solo home run to left. Michigan State tallied two unearned runs in the bottom of the second off Iowa hurler Lisa Birocci. The Hawkeyes evened the contest at 2-2 on a Kylie Murray solo home run to center to lead off the fourth inning. Jenna Spratt followed with a single just before the game was postponed.
