WEST LAFAYETTE, IN – – Purdue pounded out 20 hits and scored 13 unanswered runs en route to a 13-4 victory over the Iowa baseball team today at Lambert Field. The loss snaps the Hawkeyes’ 12-game winning streak, which included a school-record 10-game conference game winning streak.

Travis Sweet registered a bases-clearing three-RBI double to right center to extend the Black and Gold’s lead to 4-0. Sweet now ranks second in team RBIs with 45 (Dusty Napoleon, 52). Four of Iowa’s seven hits came in the second frame.

Purdue (20-25, 10-14) notched its first run of the contest in the bottom of the third on a one-out RBI-single up the middle by Eric Osborn, scoring Nick Overmyer. Iowa starter Steve Turnbull stranded two Boilermakers, getting the next two batters out.

The Boilermakers posted a four-spot of their own in the bottom of the fifth. After the first two batters reached safely, Ryne White blasted a three-run home run to right field to even the score, 4-4. After advancing to second on a sacrifice and a strikeout, Mojzik crossed home plate on an Eric Nielsen RBI-single through the right side to give Purdue its first lead, 5-4.
