The Iowa men’s gymnastics team placed sixth in the 2008 Big Ten Championships Friday, with a final score of 344.50. Penn State came in first (360.45), followed by Illinois (357.30), Ohio State (354.35), Michigan (353.00) and Minnesota (351.45).
Geoff Reins had a big night, holding the top two finishes of the night for the Hawkeyes. Reins placed sixth on floor exercise, posting a new event record, with a score of 15.35. On vault, Reins tied for fourth with a 16.00. Senior Curtis Kleffman placed eighth in the all-around competition with a score of 85.30. Kleffman also placed sixth on pommel horse with a 14.55.
The Hawkeyes will return to action Saturday April 5 to compete in the 2008 Big Ten individual event finals in University Park, PA. Competition is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
