NOTRE DAME, IN – The University of Iowa men’s golf team finished the first day of competition at the Fighting Irish Gridiron Golf Classic today. After two rounds, the Hawkeyes are in a three-way tie with San Francisco and North Florida for 10th place in the 16-team field, with a 36-hole score of 603 (+43). Minnesota (579, +19) leads the tournament by one stroke over Arkansas (580, +20). The 54-hole tournament is being played on the par 70 Warren Golf Course.
Sophomore Vince India led the Hawkeyes today. The sophomore is tied for 17th after recording a 36-hole score of 147 (+7). Senior Cole Peevler shot a 149 (+9) and is tied for 27th place. Barrett Kelpin is in 35th place. The freshman fired a 150 (+10) on the day. Sophomore Brad Hopfinger is sitting in 70th place after carding a 157 (+17). Additionally, Brad George recorded a 159 (+19). The freshman is in 70th place after two rounds of play.
