Director of Athletic Training Services

Brief Job Description
The University of Iowa is seeking applicants and nominations for Director of Athletic Training Services. The Director supervises 12 full-time staff and six graduate assistant certified athletic trainers. The Director of Athletic Training Services will work closely with the Director of Sports Medicine and the Director of Sports Rehabilitation to promote a multi-disciplinary integrated model for sports medicine care for university student-athletes and is an integral member of the sports medicine team. The Director of Athletic Training services will have sport coverage responsibilities to be determined, excluding head football athletic trainer. The Director is expected to contribute effectively to the administrative, clinical and educational mission of the organization. This position will also be expected to provide clinical supervision for curriculum students.

Qualifications
Required
This position requires a Master’s degree in an appropriate discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience. BOC certification in athletic training is necessary along with eligibility for Iowa state license. Three to five years of program management experience is required. Must have demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules and sports medicine standards of care; job-related experience with and/or commitment to diversity in the work/academic environment; excellent organizational and communication skills; a history of successful leadership and/or implementing innovative processes; excellent self-motivation; a strong commitment to professional growth; and an interest in working in a team environment.

Preferred
A strong preference is given to candidates with full-time, professional experiences as follows: a) at least ten years as an ATC in a multisport/coed athletic environment, b) 3-5 years experience with Division I football, basketball or equivalent, and c) successful clinical supervision of athletic training students. Those with equivalent experiences (e.g. PT, PA, etc.) are encouraged to apply.

Terms of Appointment
This is a full-time, 12-month annual appointment with full University benefits; salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
