IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa softball team blanked Muscatine Community College on Friday night in its fall home opener at Pearl Field, 12-0, in eight innings.

“We came out sharp,” said head coach Marla Looper. “We attacked much better than we did the weekend before at the Big Four Classic. We attacked both offensively and defensively and were very aggressive. We are improving and making progress every day.”

Senior Chelsea Lyon, freshman Micaela Whitney and junior Kayla Massey shut down the MCC offense.
