NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The University of Iowa track and field team competed in day one of the Meyo Invitational on Friday, where three athletes qualified for event finals.

Senior Ethan Holmes qualified for the finals in the men’s 60-meter hurdles. Holmes recorded a time of 7.92 in both his first round and semi-final runs. The hurdles final is set for 1:55 p.m. (CT) on Saturday.

Senior Josh Larney and junior Raven Moore qualified for the finals in the 60 meters. Larney’s semi-final time of 6.78 ties his personal best mark, and ranks fourth all-time at Iowa. Moore ran to a fifth place finish in the semi-finals posting a time of 7.64. The women’s 60 meters is set to begin Saturday at 2:20 p.m., with the men’s following at 2:25 p.m. (CT).

Larney recorded a personal best leap in the men’s long jump. He finished sixth with a jump of 23-5 ¼ (7.14m). Freshman Klyvens Delaunay also competed in the event. Delaunay posted a leap of 22-6 ¼ (6.86m) to finish 15th.

Junior Carisa Leacock recorded a personal best mark in the women’s long jump. Leacock’s mark of 19-2 ¾ (5.86m) ranks third all-time at Iowa, and was good enough for a seventh place finish.

Senior Jon Michael Brandt ran to a 12th place finish in the men’s 5,000 meters. Brandt crossed the line in a personal best time of 14:39.55.

The men’s distance medley relay team ran to a third place finish. The team of sophomore Ben Witt and freshmen Neil Flattery, Will Teubel and Caleb Wilfong crossed the line in 10:04.53.

Freshman Kaitlyn Nelson recorded a sixth place finish in the women’s 500 meters. Nelson posted a time of 1:15.43. Seniors Keaton Rickels and Kyle Slaymaker finished seventh and eighth, respectively, in the men’s 500 meters. Rickels recorded a time of 1:04.85, while Slaymaker posted a time of 1:05.01.

Redshirt freshman Sam Fourman ran to a sixth place finish in the men’s 1,000 meters. Fourman recorded a time of 2:27.31. Junior Adrianne Alexia finished 13th in the women’s 1,000 meters. Alexia crossed the line in 2:54.12.

The Meyo Invitational will resume Saturday at 9:00 a.m. (CT).
