SOLON, Iowa – Saturday’s spring race, hosted by the University of Iowa, was cancelled due to heavy winds and unsafe conditions on Lake Macbride. The event was scheduled to feature Iowa, Louisville, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
“I would like to thank Louisville, Minnesota and Wisconsin for coming to our event,” head coach Steve Pritzker said. “It’s a shame we couldn’t get the races in but the conditions were not safe for rowing. Unfortunately, that’s the nature of our sport during some events.”
The Hawkeyes travel to Bloomington, Ind., to compete in the Dale England Cup on April 26 before entering postseason competition at the Big Ten Championships on May 19.
“We are five weeks away from the Big Ten Championships and have the Dale England Cup coming up in two weeks as our next competition,” Pritzker said. “This race would have been a good indicator as to where we are in the Big Ten, but this a good time for us to reset after a tough month of training and travel.”
