STOCKTON, Calif. – Junior Cloe Lacasse tallied her first goal of the season and the 26th of her career in a 1-0 victory over UC Davis Friday evening at Knoles Soccer Field in Stockton, Calif.
Lacasse put a shot into the back of the net in the 25th minute, netting the lone goal for the Hawkeyes in their second shutout victory on the season.
The win gives Iowa its 21st straight nonconference victory, a streak that UI head coach Ron Rainey says does not weigh on the minds of his players or coaching staff whatsoever.
“To be totally honest, I don’t think many of our players even know about it,” he said. “Our primary focus is recovering and getting ready for Pacific on Sunday.”
Hannah Clark posted another stellar performance in goal, making four saves and dropping her goals against average to 0.33.
“Hannah and our defenders have been terrific, and they did a good job of clearing balls tonight,” Rainey said. “UC Davis was a very dynamic attacking team, and we did a good job defending them tonight.”
The Hawkeyes play Pacific on Sunday at 1 p.m. (CT).
