3 Hawkeyes Named to B1G Preseason Honors List

IOWA CITY, Iowa — Three University of Iowa soccer student-athletes — juniors Devin Burns, Kaleigh Haus, and Natalie Winters — were named to the Big Ten Preseason Honors List, it was announced Monday by the league office.
 
Burns, a forward from Green Oaks, Illinois, started 18 games as a sophomore where she led the team with nine goals and 23 points.  Burns was Iowa’s Offensive Player of the Year in 2017 after ranking third in the Big Ten with four game-winning goals and fourth in goals, goals per game (0.47), and points per game (1.21).
 
Haus, a forward from Des Moines, Iowa, started 18-of-19 games as a sophomore, where she ranked third on the team with five goals and 14 points. She also tallied four assists, ranking third on the team.
 
Winters, a midfielder from Plymouth, Michigan, was a third-team All-Big Ten selection as a sophomore — her second career postseason recognition. Winters scored two goals and tallied five assists. She started all 19 games in 2017; she has started all 38 games in her first two seasons.  
 
Iowa was picked to finish 10th in the preseason coaches’ poll.  Penn State was tabbed as the league favorite, followed by Ohio State, Rutgers, Northwestern, and Wisconsin in the top five.
 
The Hawkeyes open the regular season Friday, hosting Missouri at 7 p.m. (CT) at the Iowa Soccer Complex.  Admission is free.
