TULSA, Okla. – University of Iowa sophomore Samantha Mannix and senior Elise van Heuvelen Treadwell split two doubles matches Monday at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-American Championships.

In the first round, Mannix and van Heuvelen Treadwell lost a close match against Marie Mattel and Rebeka Stolmar from the University of Central Florida, 8-7. Mattel and Stolmar were ranked No. 31 in the ITA preseason rankings.

In their consolation match they defeated Emma Dolakova and Petra Melounova from Hawaii, 8-4.

QUOTING COACH SCHMID

“Elise and Sam competed so tough at Tulsa these past three days,” said Iowa head coach Sasha Schmid. “They had some quality wins, and I’m very proud of their play. They were just a couple points short in three decisive tie-breakers in the matches we lost, so no doubt that will motivate them even more to get back and compete hard at regionals in 10 days”.
