BARCELONA, Spain — Senior Amanda Ollinger netted 15 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to lead the University of Iowa women’s basketball team to a 76-57 Foreign Tour victory over the Mataro All-Stars on Friday evening.

The Hawkeyes got out to an early lead and never relinquished it. Iowa outscored Mataro, 28-12, in the third quarter to secure the victory.

“It was a really good win,” said senior Makenzie Meyer. “I think we really focused on some of the things Coach Bluder was telling us to improve on. It’s really early and we’re really young this year, so it’s been great to get this experience. We’re learning more every game.”

Ollinger led all scorers with 15 points on 7-for-12 shooting from the field. She registered 11 rebounds, including six offensive boards. The Cedar Rapids, Iowa, native also registered two assists, one steal and one block in the contest.

ADIÓS, ESPAÑA
The Hawkeyes end their Foreign Tour with a 2-1 record.

“It’s been a great trip,” said Meyer. “We’ve learned a lot on the court with the 10 practices beforehand and then the last three games. It’s also been great off the court we’ve really gotten to communicate with each other on a deeper level and get closer as a group.”
