ORLANDO, Florida – The University of Iowa women’s tennis team lost to Florida International on Monday afternoon, 4-1. The match took place at the USTA National Campus as part of the USTA National Campus Collegiate Series.
Florida International took the doubles point winning two out of three matches. Danielle Bauers and Ashleigh Jacobs were the first to finish defeating Marina Alcaide/ Francisca Vergara, 6-1. Michelle Bacalla and Elise van Heuvelen Treadwell lost to Kamila Umarova/Basak Akbasa 6-4. Sandra Bozinovic/Kristina Militeic defeated Danielle Burich and Samantha Mannix, 6-4.
In singles, the Hawkeyes picked up one win against the Panthers. At the number five position Erika Dodridge fell to Miletic 6-2, 6-1. At the number one spot van Heuvelen Treadwell defeated Umarova 6-0, 6-4. In the number 3 spot Bozinovic beat Jacobs 6-4, 6-2. In the number 2 slot Alcaide defeated Mannix 4-6, 6-1, 6-4.

The Hawkeyes face Texas on Friday at 10 a.m. (CT) in Austin, Texas, and then face either Texas Tech or LSU on Saturday at 2 p.m. (CT) as part of the ITA Kickoff Weekend.
