MADISON, Wisc. – The University of Iowa softball team dropped a doubleheader at Wisconsin on Friday, falling in the first game, 7-1, and losing the second game, 1-0.
Junior Riley Sheehy was 2-for-5 on the day including a triple.
Senior Sarah Lehman got the start in game two for the Hawkeyes and threw her eighth complete game of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1
Wisconsin opened the scoring in the first inning plating four runs. The Badgers added another run in the third inning with a pair of singles and two sacrifice bunts. In the fifth inning the Badgers added another two runs with a trio of doubles. The Hawkeyes scored in the top of the sixth after Sheehy tripled and came home on a wild pitch.
Game 2
Wisconsin hit a solo home run in the second inning. The Hawkeyes put the tying run on first base in the top of the seventh with two outs after a Marissa Peek single up the middle, but the rally would fall short with a ground out to end the game.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Sarah Lehman made her eighth start of the season and pitched her eighth complete game.
- Riley Sheehy hit her first triple of the season and her second of her career.
- The Hawkeyes are 30-14 since the start of last season.
