IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Iowa softball team was defeated by Nebraska, 4-0, on Saturday afternoon at Bob Pearl Stadium. The second game of the doubleheader was postponed until tomorrow at noon due to weather.

Lauren Shaw got the start in the circle for the Hawkeyes throwing the complete game and striking out five.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Iowa had an opportunity with the bases loaded in the first inning, but a double play got Nebraska out of the threat.
Nebraska scored three runs in the fourth inning after a double, a single, and two errors. They extended their lead in the sixth after a trio of singles and a fielder’s choice.
HEAR FROM HEAD COACH RENEE GILLISPIE
“We weren’t aggressive on defense. We were sitting back, and the ball was playing us. We talked a lot about that and especially on our field you have to stay aggressive on every ground ball we get.
“I felt like today we didn’t have the momentum on our side, we have to get it on our side and keep it on our side. We just didn’t do that today.”
NOTABLES
- Both the Hawkeyes and Nebraska moved to 21-17 on the season.
- Riley Sheehy extended her on base streak to 13 games.
- Lauren Shaw moved to 7-4 in the circle for the Hawkeyes.
