EVANSTON, Ill. – University of Iowa women’s swimming and diving wrapped up the final day of competition with Northwestern, No. 25 Minnesota and Purdue in the Norris Aquatics Center on Saturday.
Iowa placed fourth overall, scoring 90.00 versus Purdue, 81.00 versus Northwestern, and 64.50 against Minnesota.
The Hawkeyes had three swimmers and one diver accomplish at least one career or season best time during Saturday’s events.
Freshman Meredith O’Malley found her third and fourth career best times of the weekend as the lead leg of the 400 free relay (53.66) and in the 500 free (5:07.11). Another freshman, Dani Anglin, came away with her best 1-meter dive score of the year (246.95).
Senior Kennedy Gilbertson timed her best 100 free (50.31) as the lead leg of a 400 free relay quartet and posted a season best 1:58.25 in a fourth-place 200 back finish.
Sophomore Alix O’Brien came away with her season best with a 4:27.01 in the 400 IM to round out Iowa’s individual achievements of the day.
Iowa will travel to Ann Arbor, Michigan, to compete in the Big Ten Championships on Feb. 15-18.
