ABOUT THE HAWKEYES
• Juniors Emma Dabinett and Abbey Klostermann enter the 2023 season after receiving first and second team all-Big Ten honors in the 2022 season.
• Iowa recorded a program-high four Big Ten Boat of the Week honors during the 2022 championship season.
• The Hawkeye’s placed fifth at the 2022 Big Ten Championships – the program’s best finish since 2019.
• Junior Hailey Mercuri represented her home country of Canada in the U23 World Rowing Championships during July in Varese, Italy.
• Senior Molly Rygh was a Big Ten Sportsmanship Honoree recipient at the 2022 Big Ten Championships.
• Iowa’s roster represents a total of six countries and nine states, including 39 athletes from Iowa.
• Iowa’s coaching staff includes Associate Head Coach Megan Fitzpatrick, and Assistant Coaches Katie Thurstin and Lowell McNicholas.
CLIMBING THE RANKS
Iowa was ranked T-19th for the first time since 2021 in the Pocock CRCA Poll. The Hawkeyes spent 10 weeks receiving votes throughout the course of the 2022 spring season. There are five teams ranked from the B1G.
LAST TIME OUT: B1G INVITATIONAL
Iowa’s Varsity Eight beat No. 18 Tennessee’s and No. 19 Alabama’s 1V8 last Friday and Saturday in Sarasota, Florida. The Hawkeyes had the most first and second place finishes with seven, which was the best from teams within the Big Ten conference.
SCOUTING KANSAS/OKLAHOMA
The Hawkeyes will face another high-level opponent in the Kansas Jayhawks and Oklahoma Sooners. KU was receiving votes in the CRCA Pocock Poll last week. This will be Kansas’ first action since the Sunshine State Invite which was hosted by UCF on March 31-April 1, 2023.
