Hawkeyes Host Drake in Exhibition

THIS WEEK
The University of Iowa rowing team is set to host the Drake Bulldogs in an exhibition on Saturday, May 4 on the Iowa River.

Fans can watch from either the Hancher Bridge, Park Road Bridge, or along the riverbanks near Hancher Auditorium.

ABOUT THE HAWKEYES
– Iowa reached new heights in the 2023 Championship season totaling 17 outright victories.
– Iowa’s Varsity Eight earned Big 10 Boat of the Week on April 16, 2024.
– This honor marks the 18th time in school history that the program has brought home a weekly honor from the conference office. It was the first since April 18, 2023.
– The Hawkeyes collected a season-high 12 wins at the Big Ten/Big 12 Invite over Kansas, Kansas State, Minnesota, and Oklahoma.
– Placed fifth at the 2023 Big Ten Championships for the second consecutive season earning 90 points, 15 more points from the previous year.
– Senior, Abbey Klostermann was named to the 2023 All-District Women’s At-Large Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, which recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances in the athletic realm and in the classroom.
– Had three All-Big Ten selections in 2023.

CLIMBING THE RANKS
Iowa has received votes in the past six weeks of the CRCA Pocock Poll.

LAST TIME OUT: LAKE WHEELER INVITE
On the first day of the Lake Wheeler Invite, Iowa’s II Varsity Four secured two first place finishes in both the morning and afternoon sessions. On the last day of competition, the II Varsity Four stuck out,once again, and placed second against top-ranked teams. The Hawkeyes ended up placing seventh overall with 32 points.

BIG TEN INVITATIONAL RECAP
On the first day of the Big Ten Invite, the Hawkeyes secured a victory from the II Varsity Eight and followed that up with five second place finishes. Iowa’s II V8 dropped Minnesota, Notre Dame, and Oklahoma. On the final day of the competition, Iowa picked up three victories from the IV Varsity Eight, II Varsity Four, and III Varsity Four.
