IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa Athletics has officially partnered with Iowa City-based MidWestOne Bank as the presenting sponsor of Hawkeye Men’s Basketball through a multi-year partnership facilitated by Hawkeye Sports Properties.
Operating 56 branches nationwide and 32 locations in east and central Iowa, MidWestOne Bank is one of the state’s largest banks and has been serving Iowans since 1934, offering a variety of financial solutions for personal and business needs to its clients.
“For 90 years, MidWestOne Bank has been a champion of all things Iowa – becoming the presenting sponsor for Iowa Hawkeye’s Men’s Basketball continues our tradition of supporting the communities where we live and work,” said Chip Reeves, Chief Executive Officer, MidWestOne Financial Group, Inc. “Coach McCaffery builds young men into outstanding adults and wins at an elite level, the right way. We are thrilled to support Iowa men’s hoops, the University, and its students. Go Hawks!”
As the presenting sponsor of Hawkeye Men’s Basketball, MidWestOne Bank receives prominent in-venue signage placement, a men’s basketball game sponsorship, social media exposure and unique premium access.
MidWestOne Bank will also engage in promotional opportunities with a pair of Hawkeye student-athletes, Owen Freeman and Payton Sandfort. Their NIL activities with MidWestOne Bank will include digital and social media engagement, retail appearances and the use of student-athlete imagery for marketing purposes.
“I am very appreciative of MidWestOne Bank’s expanded partnership with Hawkeye men’s basketball, including their new NIL relationships,” said head coach Fran McCaffery. “I have gotten to know Chip Reeves personally and, as a former student-athlete, he understands what it takes to be successful at a very high level.”
MidWestOne Bank has been a proud partner of the Hawkeyes since 2017, with the expansion and extension of their partnership through 2027 bringing them to a decade of support while reaffirming their commitment to the success of Iowa Athletics, Hawkeye fans, and Iowans all across the state.
“MidWestOne Bank has been a dedicated partner of the Hawkeyes and we are beyond excited to expand our relationship with them,” said Gabriel Aguirre, Vice President & General Manager of Hawkeye Sports Properties. “As a highly successful business rooted right here in Iowa City, we look forward to seeing the impact we can make together on the Hawkeye community.”
Hawkeye Sports Properties, the locally based team of Learfield – the media and technology company powering college athletics – is the exclusive multimedia rights holder for Iowa Athletics and oversees all sponsorship agreements on behalf of the Hawkeyes. Hawkeye Sports Properties does not represent the student-athletes themselves but collaborates with corporate partners to maximize sponsorship agreements with the inclusion of NIL programs and the integration of university marks and logos within those programs.
