Hawkeyes Set For MountainView Collegiate

The University of Iowa women’s golf team heads to Tucson, Arizona, to compete at the Mountain View Collegiate on March 2-4. The 54-hole tournament will be played at the Preserve Golf Club (Par 72, 6,345 yards) with tee times beginning Sunday at 9a.m. (CT).

THE LINEUP
Iowa’s lineup includes senior Paula Miranda, junior Riley Lewis, junior Kaitlyn Hanna, sophomore Ximena Benites and sophomore Maura Peters.

THE FIELD
The 14-team field includes Arizona (13), Cincinnati (130), Furman (70), Hawaii (136), Iowa (122), Kansas State (30), Marshall (188), Miami (Fla.), Missouri (61), Nebraska (147), Oklahoma (34), TCU (16), Wichita State (179) and Wisconsin (103). (NCAA golf rankings)

THE COURSE
The Preserve Golf Club, which opened in 2004, offers stunning views of the Santa Catalina Mountains. The course was designed by Dick Bailey and features rolling fairways, undulating greens and dramatic elevation changes. The course has earned a reputation of world-class golf as it winds through the canyons and foothills of the Santa Catalina Mountains.

LAST MEET
Iowa finished 16th at the Chevron Collegiate with a 54-hole total of 893 (309-290-294). Miranda paced the team, tying for 47th with a 218 (77-71-70).

OF NOTE…
• Senior Paula Miranda has posted a team-best 74.44 scoring average this season with two top-20 and one top 10 finish. She has led the team in five of the team’s six tournaments this season.
• Miranda has a team-best five rounds at or below par this season, giving her 25 such rounds in her collegiate career.
• Sophomore Ximena Benites fired back-to-back 69s at the Hurricane Invitational, matching the team’s lowest round of the fall.
• Three Hawkeyes -- Miranda, Benites and Maura Peters -- are the only players to compete in all six tournaments this season.
• Iowa won the Diane Thomason Invitational in October at Finkbine Golf Course. It was the program’s first win since 2021.
• The Hawkeyes finished with an 878 total at the Hurricane Invitational, which is the ninth-best 54-hole score in program history.

UP NEXT
Iowa will head to South Carolina on March 10-11 to compete at the Briar’s Creek Invitational.
