HEAR FROM HEAD COACH JEFF GARBUTT
“Being able to train outside over spring break allows our athletes the best ability to prepare for the racing season. We are excited to get out on the water and begin to finalize boat spots as we move into the competitive part of the spring. It will be great to get out against Clemson and Indiana, both highly competitive programs. This race will prove as a benchmark to see how we improved over the winter as we raced Indiana at the end of the fall.”
ABOUT LAKE HARTWELL
Lake Hartwell was formed from the creation of the Hartwell Dam. Construction on the dam started in 1955, with the final completion date seven years later in 1962. The lake is used solely for recreational activities. The lake spans both South Carolina and Georgia with 56,000 acres of water and 962 miles of shoreline. Plans were altered after the lake would cause flooding damage to Clemson College’s Memorial Stadium. Two diversion dams were built around the college to rechannel the Seneca river around the college.
RECONNECTING
The rowing team will be reconnecting Shelia Rinozzi, the Director of Operations at Clemson. Rinozzi was a coxswain at Iowa from 2006-2010, earning first team All-Big Ten selection honors twice, received the Big Ten Distinguished Scholar Award, and earned captaincy during her junior and senior year.
