Hawkeyes Host Illinois State on Tuesday

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Iowa baseball team welcomes Illinois State to Duane Banks Field on Tuesday for a midweek matchup. First pitch is set for 6:02 p.m. (CDT), and admission is $5.

The Hawkeyes enter the contest with a 31-12 record, while the Redbirds sit at 20-21 on the season. Illinois State defeated Iowa, 10-8, on March 25. 

As a team, Illinois State is hitting .302, and its pitching staff has a 6.41 ERA. Daniel Pacella leads the offense, hitting .380 with a team-high 14 home runs and 48 RBIs.

Tanner Perry and Tyrelle Chadwick head the Redbird pitching staff with over 50 innings of work each. Perry has a 6.62 ERA with 53 strikeouts, while Chadwick holds a 4.80 ERA with 23 punchouts.

Overall, the Hawkeyes are hitting .311 with 59 home runs. Gable Mitchell leads Iowa with a .352 batting average and 15 doubles. Reese Moore leads the offense with nine home runs and a .619 slugging percentage, while Miles Risley has batted in a team-high 42 runs. 

The Iowa pitching staff has a Big Ten-leading 3.61 ERA. LHP Cade Obermueller leads the charge with a 2.42 ERA over 63 1/3 innings of work. He has the most strikeouts on the team with 85. RHP Aaron Savary is 7-0 in 11 starts this season, and Reece Beuter is 5-0 in 11 starts.
