IOWA CITY, Iowa – University of Iowa men’s basketball student-athletes Isaia Howard and Cam Manyawu have been named College Sports Communicators Academic All-District selections, it was announced Tuesday by the CSC.
The honor is the first of both players’ career. Manyawu was a Missouri Valley Conference All-Scholar second team selection last season at Drake.
To be eligible for the award, nominees must have a 3.5 GPA and completed one full calendar year at their current institution and is at least a sophomore academically and athletically. Nominees must also be a starter or important reserve to the team and participated in at least 50 percent of the team’s contests.
Howard, a native of Plattsburg, Missouri, is a pre-business major where he carries a 3.56 grade point average. Manyawu, a Kansas City, Missouri, native, carries a 3.84 grade point average while majoring in finance.
The Hawkeyes (23-12) posted NCAA Tournament victories over eighth-seeded Clemson and top-seeded Florida last weekend in Tampa, Florida, to advance to the program’s first Sweet 16 in 27 years.
Iowa will face fourth-seeded Nebraska on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. (CT) in the South Regional in Houston, Texas.
