Why Iowa… The University of Iowa was a great fit for me for many reasons. It has a top ranked premedical program, a beautiful campus, division 1 athletics, and is close to my hometown.

My favorite aspect of rowing is… My favorite, but also the most challenging aspect of rowing is that it requires stamina, strength, and technique. Other sports I have competed in typically favored one of the three, but all of these things are necessary to succeed in rowing. I also love that rowing takes the concept of “working together as a team” to a whole new level. Rowers literally have to work as one unit, in perfect conformity, to move the boat as efficiently as possible.

What made you want to become a rower… Coming to the University of Iowa, I missed being a member of a team. Sports are great, staying in shape is nice, and competing is fun, but nothing is as rewarding as being on a team and sharing the same goals and pride. I had heard of the University of Iowa Rowing program before I came to campus and went to tryouts the first few weeks of school. These were my first experiences in the sport.
