Hawkeyes in Fourth at Lady Boilermaker

WEST LAFAYETTE, IN – The University of Iowa women’s golf team shot a 36-hole total of 614 to finish the first day of competition in fourth in the highly competitive12-team Indiana Invitational. The six Hawkeyes competing all placed in the top 35. Indiana is currently leading the tournament after posting a score of 596.

Leading the way for the Hawkeyes is junior Liz Bennett. Bennett carded a 149, which ties her for third. Senior Laura Holmes shot a 154, good enough for a tie for 15th. Senior Jennifer Reints and junior Shannon Fleming both shot two round totals of 157 to tie for 26th. Freshman Amy Riepma shot a 36-hole total of 158, which puts her in a tie for 30th. Freshman Virginie Bonfils is tied for 33rd after carding a 159.

The Hawkeyes will continue competition tomorrow with the final 18 holes to begin with a shotgun start at 8:00 a.m.
