Severe Weather Delays NCAA Championships

June 9, 2004

Austin, TX – Mother Nature disrupted the first day of the 2004 NCAA track and field championships on Wednesday as only one event was completed during nearly seven hours of lightning and rain delays. Lightning struck near the stadium and caused officials to evacuate the facility on three separate occasions.

The NCAA track and field championships will resume on Thursday. An updated schedule of events can be found at www.ncaasports.com.
