The Iowa women’s gymnastics program has signed Kara Pinjuv, Brandi Loffer and Jennifer Simbhudas to national letters of intent. The three will enroll at the University of Iowa next fall.

“We are proud and honored to be a part of our signees’ futures in athletic and academics,” said Head Coach Larissa Libby.

Pinjuv, a native of Reno, NV, currently competes for Flips USA. She finished third on bars and tied for seventh on floor at the 2004 J.O. Nationals.

“For us, Kara is the total package,” said Libby. “She exemplifies excellence in both academics and athletics. She is determined, has an incredible work ethic, and a magnetic personality. We believe she will do great things as an Iowa athlete.”

Loffer is from Corona, CA and competes for SCEGA. She finished second on beam at the 2004 California state meet.

“Brandi is our diamond in the rough,” said Libby. “She is excellent on the bars. She is just now coming on strong and we expect that she will be a significant contributor by the time she competes for Iowa.”

Simbhudas hails from Unionville, Ontario. She currently competes for Pulsars Gymnastics. Simbhudas’ accomplishments include finishing eighth in the all-around at the 2004 Olympic Trials and placing third on vault, seventh on bars and eighth in the all-around at the 2004 Canadian Championships in the senior division.

“Jennifer is a very talented athlete,” said Libby. “She should be an instant difference maker to our program.”
