Hawkeyes in Sixth at Peggy Kirk Bell Invite

WINTER SPRINGS, FL – – The University of Iowa women’s golf team is in sixth place after the first two rounds of the Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational played today at the par-72 Tuscawilla Golf and Country Club. The Hawkeyes fired rounds of 314 and 323 to give them a total score of 637 on the first day of competition. Host school Rollins College (598) leads the tournament by 12 strokes over second place UNC-Greensboro (610).

Senior Liz Bennett (Sway Hampshire, England) stroked a 36-hole score of 155 (78-77) and is tied for 14th. Sophomore Karla Murra (Sioux Falls, SD) finished the first day tied for 31st after stroking a 160 (81-79). Sophomore Amy Riepma (Clear Lake, IA), who posted a career-best 69 in last week’s competition in Arizona, fired a 79 in round one before drawing from the tournament.

The tournament concludes tomorrow with the final 18 holes being played at the Tuscawilla Golf and Country Club.
