Iowa 11th After Two Rounds of Pioneer Classic

GOODYEAR, AZ – The University of Iowa men’s golf team is in 11th place after the first two rounds played Tuesday of the Pioneer Classic played at the par-72 Palm Valley Golf Course. The Hawkeyes stroked rounds of 292 and 296 to give them a 36-hole score of 588. Wichita State (549) leads the tournament by 22 strokes over Nebraska (571).

Iowa was paced by sophomore Todd Larson (Marian, IA), who fired a two-round total of 143 (72-71) and is tied for 17th place. Junior Luke Miller (West Des Moines, IA), is tied for 43rd after stroking a 147 (72-75). Iowa sophomore Bennet Hammerberg (Cedar Rapids, IA) carded a 146 (72-74) and is tied for 37th, while redshirt freshman Dan Holterhaus (Cedar Rapids, IA) is tied for 43rd after shooting a 147 (73-74) competing as individuals. Wichita State’s Judd Easterling leads the tournament after shooting a 13-under par 131 (66-65).

The tournament concludes tomorrow with the final 18 holes being played on the Palm Valley Golf Course.
