ANN ARBOR, MI –
The 55th-ranked Iowa women’s tennis team fell to 41st-ranked Michigan, 6-1, Saturday afternoon. The Hawkeyes drop to 8-6 overall.
Anastasia Zhukova and Hilary Tyler extended their win streak in doubles to ten, defeating Allie Shafner and Leanne Rutherford, 8-4. Meg Racette and Hillary Mintz battled the 13th-ranked duo of Michelle DaCosta and Kara Delicata, but finally fell, 8-3.
Milica Veselinovic won against Rutherford, 7-5, 6-0, at the No. 4 singles position, giving her seven consecutive singles wins. At the No. 1 spot, Racette took 50th-ranked DaCosta into a third set, but was unable to hold on, dropping 2-6, 6-2, 7-5. Jacqueline Lee came from behind against Nina Yaftali, but fell in the third set tiebreaker, 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (2).
The Hawkeyes will compete tomorrow at Michigan State beginning at 10 a.m.
