Morelock Named 2-A Player Of The Year

IOWA CITY – University of Iowa freshman infielder Quinn Morelock has been named Iowa’s Class 2-A Player of the Year. Morelock becomes the fifth player in the last four years to join the Iowa softball team after being named Iowa’s Player of the Year.

Morelock, a native of Solon, recorded a .503 batting average with 23 homeruns, which was one shy of the state record for homeruns in a season. She finished her career at Solon with 45 homeruns, two shy of the career record for the state.

Current Hawkeyes Mindy Heidgerken (2003, class 3-A), Jenna Spratt (2003, class 2-A) and Steph Ackerson (2004, class 4-A) were all named Iowa’s Player of the Year. Former Hawkeye Lisa Birocci was the 4-A Player of the Year in 2001.
