Iowa women’s basketball senior Crystal Smith is one of 40 athletes invited to participate in the WNBA Pre-Draft Camp, April 3-4 in Boston, MA. All 14 WNBA teams will be scouting players in preparation for the draft, which will be held April 5.
Smith was a consensus all-Big Ten first team selection and named to the all-Big Ten defensive team. The native of Haughton, LA, was also earned WBCA Region 6 All-America recognition.
Smith finished her career ranked fifth in Iowa career steals (213) and 3-pointers made (116), and 14th in scoring (1,193). The 5-6 guard set or matched six single-game records her senior year, establishing records in points (46) and free throw attempts (19); while matching records in field goal (1.000, 9-9) and free throw (1.000, 11-11) percentage, free throws made (15) and 3-pointers attempted (14).
Iowa’s last player drafted in the WNBA was Lindsey Meder, who was selected by the Minnesota Lynx in 2002.
