MINNEAPOLIS, MN– Minnesota swept the Iowa baseball team today at Siebert Field, 12-3. Gopher starter Seth Rosin was dominate, allowing only three Iowa hits and striking out seven in six and two-third innings of work.
To lead Iowa’s offense was Kurtis Muller going 2-for-3 with two walks, a stolen base and an RBI. Dallas Burke continued to swing the bat well going 2-for-5 with a double. Phil Keppler led Iowa with two RBI.
The Gophers (30-13, 14-3) took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second and never trailed today’s game. Minnesota added three in the third, three in the fourth, two in the sixth and three in the eighth.
Iowa (14-30, 3-14) got going in the top of the ninth, but it was too little too late and the Hawkeyes lost 12-3. Pinch hitter Jeff Pacha reached base on an error to start the inning off. Phil Keppler hit a two-run homer to put Iowa on the board. Trevor Willis doubled and later scored on a Kurtis Muller RBI single.
Starter Jarred Hippen got the loss, going three and two-third innings and allowing seven runs on eight hits. Iowa’s bullpen featured: Mike Schurz and Steve Turnbull.
