WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The University of Iowa men’s tennis team (7-12, 0-7) fell to No. 63 Purdue (16-7, 3-4) Sunday afternoon, 6-1.
The Hawkeyes fell in 2-of-3 doubles matches to Purdue as the Boilermakers gained the doubles point. Michael Swank and Joey White picked up the lone victory for the Hawkeyes in doubles play taking down Kovacs and Hawkins of Purdue, 8-3.
Iowa struggled in singles competition losing 5-of-6 matches. Playing in the No. 3 singles slot, Matt Hagan picked up the lone victory for the Hawkeyes in singles play defeating Poziomski of Purdue in a tie breaker, 3-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-8).
The Hawkeyes see action next this Friday as they host Michigan State at 2 p.m. (CT) at the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex. Admission is free.
