Interested in Being Herky?

Feb. 5, 2016

IOWA CITY, Iowa — Are you interested in being the University of Iowa’s iconic mascot Herky the Hawk?

The first step to becoming Herky is filling out this application. These 10 easy questions can change your world. Herky travels the country and participates in events throughout the calendar year that most people can only dream of.

To apply you do not need prior mascot experience. Rather the mascot coaching staff is looking for fun-loving and creative men and women who want to represent the University of Iowa like no other.

From those that apply, some will be selected to proceed in the selection process to the in-person tryout. Please be available Feb. 28 (5-10 p.m.), and in case (and hopefully) you are selected to proceed you will need to be available March 2 from 9-10 p.m. and March 27 from 6-9 p.m. Please be aware that there is a small chance these dates change. If that happens we will inform you immediately and do our best to work around scheduling conflicts.

The deadline to apply is Feb. 21, 2016, by 11:59 p.m.

The Herky application is available HERE.

There will also be informational meetings discussing the position Feb. 16 at 9 p.m. in Room E220 of the Fieldhouse (just off of the Main Deck) and Feb. 17 at 9 p.m. in Room E220 of the Fieldhouse. These are not mandatory, but attending on informational meeting is highly encouraged. It is a great opportunity for us to meet you, and for you to learn about Herky and ask questions about the position.
