DES MOINES, Iowa – The University of Iowa women’s dance team clinched a pair of titles at the 2017 Iowa State Dance Team Championships last Friday, taking first place in both jazz and poms.

The Iowa State Dance Team Championship is the largest state dance competition in the nation. Twenty-six teams competed from around the state of Iowa at the Wells Fargo Arena.

This is the first time Iowa has won two categories since 2007, the first year the team competed at state. Iowa defeated rivals UNI and 2016 National Dance Association Pom Champion Iowa State in the pom competition. They went on to defeat Iowa State again in the jazz component.
