IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Iowa softball team swept its doubleheader over UW Green Bay on Tuesday at Pearl Field in Iowa City. The Hawkeyes won the opening game in run-rule fashion, 9-1, before securing the 3-2 victory in game two. Iowa moves to 15-13 this season.
Iowa’s bats came alive in the opener, scoring nine runs on 11 hits. The Hawkeyes broke the game open with a three-run first inning before plating three in the third to build the advantage to 6-0.
Iowa drew three consecutive HBP in the first that loaded the bases and allowed junior Mallory Kilian to score before freshman Aralee Bogar stepped to the plate and delivered a two-RBI single.
In the second, Iowa plated two runs via a RBI triple by senior Allie Wood. She later scored on a RBI single by sophomore Taylor Libby. The Hawkeyes scored three more in the sixth inning on a walk-off RBI triple from Bogar.
The Phoenix were able to score one run in the sixth. Senior pitcher Kenzie Ihle earned her second victory as a Hawkeye, allowing one run on eight hits over six innings. She had a career-high eight strikeouts and only issued one walk.
In game two, Green Bay jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first with leadoff homer followed by a RBI double.
The Hawkeyes responded, scoring two runs in the bottom half of the inning with Libby and senior Angela Schmeiderer picking up RBIs.
Bogar scored what would be the game winning run in the second inning off a RBI single by senior Cheyenne Pratt.
Sophomore Allison Doocy (9-5) picked up the win. She tossed 11 strikeouts and did not allow any walks after entering the game in the second inning for senior Erin Riding.

- Ihle threw a career-high eight strikeouts in Iowa’s game one victory.
- Bogar had one run on three hits — including a walk-off triple — in Tuesdays’ doubleheader. She also collected four RBI.
- Bogar is 13-13 on stolen base attempts this season.
- Five Hawkeyes had multiple hit games: Mallory Kilian (2), Allie Wood (2), Taylor Libby (2), Aralee Bogar (3), Cheyenne Pratt (2).

“We put the brakes on after the first two innings of that first game. We jumped out early and then we made the wrong adjustments at bat. Instead of being aggressive and attacking the ball, we started slowing our swing down. Credit to the pitcher. She did a nice job of holding us at bay in that first game. We made an adjustment and were able to do better in game two.
“Ihle had a great outing. She’s given us some good innings lately. Sunday at practice she looked really good and sharp, so I was excited to get her on the mound today. I was excited for her to get after it and get that W.”
