Fujitani Named B1G Golfer of the Week

University of Iowa freshman Rachel Fujitani has been named Big Ten Golfer of the Week for her performance at the Bruzzy Challenge on April 2-3, the conference announced on Wednesday.

Iowa City, Iowa — University of Iowa freshman Rachel Fujitani has been named Big Ten Golfer of the Week for her performance at the Bruzzy Challenge on April 2-3, the conference announced on Wednesday.  It is the first honor of her career.
 
Fujitani fired three birdies in round two to finish with a 36-hole score of 150 (+6).  She finished the tournament with a 54-hole score of 229 (+13).  Her 13th-place finish marked a career-best. 
 
The Phoenix, Arizona, native is the first Hawkeye to earn a Golfer of the Week award since Amy Ihm earned the honor on March 16, 2016.
 
The Hawkeyes travel to Cincinnati, Ohio, for the Big Ten Championships on April 20-22.
