IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa men’s tennis freshman Nikita Snezhko will compete Saturday and Sunday at the Champaign Challenger at the Atkins Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Illinois.
Last weekend, the native of Minnesota posted a team high in singles wins at the Bobby Bayliss Invitational. Snezhko had success against Big Ten foes defeating Jon Meyer of Nebraska and Michigan State’s Colin Harvey.
“Nikita shows a lot of talent in practice every single day and we’re trying to get him a ton of matches,” said assistant coach Joey Manilla. “By him going to this weekend’s tournament and getting extra reps is awesome. It’s also good for our program because as we start bringing in better recruits that have the aspiration and expectation to play professional tennis after college. It’s great for them to get into wildcard events and have a chance to play in the challenger.”
