3 Hawkeyes Nationally Ranked in Preseason Rankings

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The University of Iowa men's tennis program has shown steady growth during the Ross Wilson era. In the five years as Mellecker Family Head Men's Tennis Coach, Wilson has guided the Hawkeyes to 74 wins, the fifth-highest total over a five-year span in program history.

IOWA CITY, Iowa — Three University of Iowa men’s tennis student-athletes are ranked in the 2019-20 Oracle ITA Division I preseason national rankings released on Tuesday. Kareem Allaf is ranked No. 69 in singles, while the doubles team of Oliver Okonkwo and Will Davies are ranked No. 56 nationally.
 
Allaf’s No. 69 ranking is the highest the redshirt senior has been ranked as a Hawkeye. He enters his senior campaign with 117 combined wins in singles and doubles, including 65 career singles wins, which ties for ninth and 11th most, respectively, in program history. Last season as a junior, Allaf won 23 singles matches, winning the ITA Central Region singles championship and earning second-team All-Big Ten recognition. Allaf’s preseason national ranking is the highest by a Hawkeye since Josh Silverstein was ranked No. 66 in 2017.
 
Okonkwo and Davies won 21 doubles matches last season as a tandem. Davies/Okonkwo were ranked as high as No. 58 in the country last spring, going 10-2 on court No. 2 and 6-3 on court No. 1. Davies/Okonkwo are the sixth highest ranked doubles team among student-athletes in the Big Ten.
